The outer function is executed and can return the inner function to the outside world. But the variables of outer function that are closed by inner function can outlive this *outer* function execution, because they are captured by inner function.

No revision here, but on top of my last revision I wanted to comment something (not enough comment space before). On the Closure part with the JS "IIFE" synatx, somebody should really add an explanation of what is going on there!
