For Developers

Information on getting included in the SimpleScripts system.

Becoming a Simple Script

SimpleScripts has a large user base and a lot of really good applications to choose from. So how do we decide which applications to include?

Mature Development Cycle

Any script that we include must be actively maintained by a group of developers. It must be well documented. It must have a "security release" RSS feed or mailing list. It must allow for easy (unattended) database upgrades. See our Script Packaging article for more information. While we do offer beta versions of some scripts, there must be at least one good solid stable version for clients to use if they're not comfortable beta testing.

Mature User Base

Your script must be actively supported by your user base. This means having self-contained support forums with helpful moderators and an easy way for new users to find needed information and get involved. It also helps if people outside of your development team request to have your script included in SimpleScripts. This can be done through our Feedback link above or our Contact Us page.

Legal Information and Cost

For Open-Source Applications

If your application conforms to an open-source license, and is selected for inclusion in the SimpleScripts system, there is no cost involved. However, there cannot be any encoded files included with the distribution. We'd also appreciate a link on your download and/or installation page as an honorable mention. See the Affiliate Program for more info.

For Commercial Applications

If you charge for your application (not necessarily support options), or have any encoded files included in your distribution, you fall under the Commercial Application (or Premium App) category. Please contact us for more information regarding pricing to become included. Both Zend and Ioncube are supported for running encoded files on most server types, and your application will appear to a very large customer base. More details are available by contacting us
